Hand crafted

Before the mixie. Before the grinder. Before the shortcuts, there was the kutni.

And the food tasted different. Better. More alive.

The Brass Masala Kutni brings back the oldest form of spice preparation, where crushing whole spices by hand releases oils, aromas, and depth that no blade can replicate. Hand-crafted by the artisans of Pitalnagri, this kutni is built the way it always was - heavy, sturdy, and made to work.

A pinch of freshly crushed pepper. A paste of ginger and garlic. A quick pound of cardamom before your morning chai. Small acts that make an enormous difference to the way food feels and tastes.

This is not just a kitchen tool. It is a return to cooking with intention.

100% Pure Brass

Made without synthetic coatings, it is designed for effortlessly crushing fresh herbs, whole spices, garlic, ginger, and other aromatics while preserving the authenticity of traditional Indian cooking.

Everyday Care

  • Wash with mild dish soap and a soft sponge after each use.
  • Avoid using abrasive cleaners, steel wool, or harsh scrubbers, as they may damage the finish and tin lining (Kalai).
  • Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth after washing to prevent water spots and maintain its natural shine.

To Restore the Shine

Over time, brass/Copper/Kansa naturally develops a soft patina, which is a sign of authentic metal and does not affect its performance.

To bring back its original lustre :

  • Gently rub the exterior with a natural paste made from Flour (atta) + Lemon + Salt.
  • Rinse with clean water and wipe dry immediately.
  • Avoid using acidic cleaners on the tin-lined interior (Kalai).

Every Pitalya piece is thoughtfully handcrafted by skilled artisans, making each creation truly one of a kind. As a result, slight variations in size, weight, shape, colour, texture, or finish are natural and reflect the beauty and authenticity of traditional handmade craftsmanship.

Please note that product images may vary slightly from the actual product due to lighting conditions, photography, and individual screen settings.

Rest assured, every Pitalya product is crafted using 100% pure brass, copper, or kansa (as specified) with meticulous attention to quality, craftsmanship, and timeless design. While each piece may have subtle handcrafted variations, the design, material, and quality will always remain true to what is shown and described.
